Freeze Frame - SBC #495

Hope everyone is while rested for the start of another work week. My weekend turned into work days but I didn't mind since I did spurge on some new fall boots. I say that was a good reward for myself after a busy week.

Today's Scrapbook Challenges sketch #495 reveal is great if you are in love with grids. I for one don't care for them since I am a little OCD and I have to have everything lined up perfectlf. This grid was perfect for this brain since it was a messy grid.

Here is my take on it. This photos here are pics of my mom and her friends from back in the day.
Supplies: cardstock (American Crafts) pattern paper (American Crafts and Basic Grey), stickers (American Crafts, Crate Paper and Basic Grey), sequins (SpiegleMom Scraps), die cuts (SpiegleMom Scraps), mist (Tattered Angles), sewing machine (Singer) and thread.

Here is a closer look. No "E's" for frame so I used a "M" instead.

I just love the sequins and cork shapes SpiegleMom Scraps has to offer. Use coupon code mandi15 for 15% off your purchase.

Peter Cotton Tail - SBC SS 09

Good afternoon everyone, I thought I should post the Scrapbook Challenges #09 Sizzlin Summer sketch before I get my hands covered in dough. Tonight, I am calling it Italian night. I am making homemade paste with saute tomatoes with bread sticks and for dessert shaved coffee ice.
Supplies: cardstock (American Crafts and The Paper Studio), pattern paper (K & Co.and Inkadinkado), sequins (SpiegleMom Scraps, use coupon code mandi15 when you shop at her shop), stickers (Crate Paper, Basic Grey and Prima), stitching template (American Crafts), embroidery floss (DMC), washi tape (My Mind's Eye), border punch (Fiskars) and ink (Close to My Heart)

Here is a closer look at the title work.

I used an embossed cardstock for the background but wanted the pattern to pop so I rubbed an ink pad across the top.

Which Bone? - SBC #458

It is Monday, and that means it is time to do my layout reveal for the latest sketch from Scrapbook Challenges.
Sketch #458
I scaled this sketch done to work on an 8x8 page.
Supplies: cardstock (American Crafts, The Paper Studio and Die Cuts With a View), pattern paper (Die Cuts With a View and Crate Paper),  stickers (American Crafts, Elle's Studio, October Afternoon and Jillibean Soup), tag (Elle's Studio), washi tape (My Mind's Eye), doily (Doodlebug), sequins (Fancy Pants Designs), sewing machine and thread

Since the photos on this page were taken on Independence Day I decided to keep the color scheme on this page red, white and blue even though the story has nothing to do with the holiday.

Here is a little tip on those cute little label stickers from Jillibean Soup. Make sure your journaling is written on them before adhering to the page. I made the mistake of adding not enough labels to the page and I had to move them around to get the extra tag in the right spot. This error cause me to ruin some of the labels as I removed from the page and it also ripped some of the pattern paper. So user beware: the adhesive on those labels are sticky.

Carpe Diem - SBC SS 15' Sketch # 05

Sizzling summer sketches are in full force over at Scrapbook Challenges. I love this time of year, it allows me to take some me time and what normally is a busy time at home. Here is a little background info abo Sizzling Summer, everyday weekday in the month of August there is a new sketch reveal. Instead of the normal Monday and Friday reveals we fill the days in between this month with new sketches.

   Here is my take.
Supplies: cardstock (The Paper Studio and American Crafts), pattern paper (American Crafts, Crate Paper and Kaisercraft), chipboard (Crate Paper), die cuts (American Crafts and Kaisercraft), paperclip (Maya Road), mask (The Crafters Workshop), modeling paste (Liquitex), washi tape (Scotch Brand), electronic die cutter and cartridge (Provo Craft), white thread and sewing machine.

This photo has been on the to scrap to-do list. The only reason it was because it is the only photo I have of my dad, brother and uncle together. Since the photo is 25+ years old I thought to use the old cassette chipboard pieces that came in the Boy's Rule line from Crate Paper.

Here is a close-up on the modeling paste work. I just love the chicken wire stencil from TCW.
Also, don't take a very close look at the middle row of circles. I ran out of thread while I was stitching so I ended up with holes poked in it instead. Here is a little tip: make sure you have an extra spool of white thread hanging around.

Modeling 4 Fun - Scrapbook Challenges

I can't believe it has been almost a week since I have posted anything. This time I have a reason. Since last Saturday our internet has been wonky. It has been super slow or out at night time. This is the first day without any problems. That is good because I am sitting here waiting for the washer to stop. As soon as it dried I will sew the anniversary pillow close. not a moment to soon to get that done. Tomorrow is my parents special day.
In the meantime I want to share with you  layout I did for Scrapbook Challenges.
I stayed true to this sketch. I found it kind of odd I did since grids seem to mess my brain up. LOL. When I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to try my hand at stitching the grid onto my page. I love the way it came out.
Supplies: cardstock (The Paper Studio), pattern paper (American Crafts, Webster's Pages and Crate Paper), stickers (My Mind's Eye and American Crafts), sequin (Hazel & Ruby),gems (Prima), electronic die cutter and cartridge (provo Craft), flower ( K & Co.), twine (Timeless Twine), journaling card (Project Life),doily, black thread and sewing machine.

I just wanted to share my favorite grid from this page. I love that memo sticker ontop of the Project Life card.
There goes the washer. Thanks for stopping by. God Bless and remember to be thankful of what you have and to remember those who have lost it all on 9/11 and those who protect our freedom.

Sketch 384- Did You Say Smile?

It is Monday and that means another sketch reveal over at Scrapbook Challenges. Sketch #384 is one of my favorites at first but it soon turned to be a hard to complete I also incorporated one of the added Scrapbook Challenges challenge, I used gold on my page.
The reason was the triangles weren't cutting it for me. I ended up changing them out for a chevron mask, chipboard and wood veneers.
Supplies: cardstock (The Paper Studio), pattern paper (Studio Calico), stickers (American Crafts and Simple Stories), wood veneers ( Studio Calico and Freckled Fawn), flair (Studio Calico), tag (Elle's Studio) chipboard (Um Wow Studio), gelato (Faber-Castell), modeling paste (Liquidex), mask (Studio Calico), chalk inks (Stampabilities and Quick Quotes), stamp (Jenni Bowlin Mercantile) sewing machine and black thread
I smeared a gold gelato on the background paper, added some modeling paste, inks, chipboards and veneers to my trouble area. I love the interest it added to my dead space.
This photo was taken 20+ years ago of my Jido. He knew he was getting his photo taken so he acted like a nut and did this face. That was the king of man he was. He didn't care how he looked or acted but had a super big heart that made you love him.
Be sure to play along this month at Scrapbook Challenges for the chance at winning the Freckled Fawn prize and a guest design team spot for the month of April.

Black and White Gift Ensemble

Today is my first projects as a member of the Zappy Dots design team. I have to say I am loving it. Their designs are great and the size of them are workable too.
I fell in love with these Damask Hearts
I ended up creating a trio of things perfect for gift giving.
Supplies: patten paper (Scrap Works), cardstock (The Paper Studio),  punches (Fikars and EK Success), fair (Zappy Dots), embossing machine and folders (Sizzix), ink (Quick Quotes and Stampabilities), gems (Eyelet Outlet),stitch template (American Crafts), washi tape (Queen & CO.) twine (Timeless Twine),gift bag, and doily.
For this bow I used this tutorial. It is a never fail one since I never had a problem making these.
Here is a close-up of the gift bag.
I am loving the flair on this card. I added a gem strip to the edge. The sentiments is stitched with twine.
Thanks for dropping by and be sure to check out Zappy Dots site for all you flair needs.
p.s. Did you know that you use these badges in ewerly. You can get the badges with magnets on them to attach to jewerly blanks that they sell.

Say Cheese

Today is another great sketch reveal over at Simple Sketches. This is the sketch this week's team had to work with.
I kept it fairly the same but I added an extra photo.
Supplies: cardstock (The Paper Studio), pattern paper (Inmagisince), twine (Timeless Twine), washi tape (Scoth tape), diy enamled dots, stencil (Fancy Pants Designs), stickers (American Crafts and October Afternoon) and stitch template (American Crafts)
On this page I was able to use an very old pattern paper that I have had for over 5 years. Even though I kept this page fairly simple I went crazy with twine. I outline the side pahotos with it and did the stitched camera.
Be sure to check out SS every Satudar for the a new sketch reveal.
