Scrapbook Challenges Reveal and News

First off, I will share my latest page for Scrapbook Challenges before I share the news. This is the newest sketch #437 reveal is a fun and it offers a lot of endless possibilities.
Here is my take on it.

Supplies: cardstock (Bazzill Basics), pattern paper (Die Cuts With a View, Cosmo Cricket and Studio Calico), stickers (Basic Grey and My Mind's Eye), tags (Elle's Studio and K & Co.), doily (The Paper Studio), wood veneer (Momenta), enamel dots (My Mind's Eye), modeling paste (Liquidex), sequins (Studio Calico), washi tape (Scotch Brand), mist (Tattered Angels) and mask (The Crafter's Workshop)

Here is a closeup of the title.

Now onto my news. Earlier this month, I sent in an application to be part of a design team for an online store called SHE Glossy. Last week, I got word that I have made it. Happy dance on a day I was a little bummed about a mistake I made. To the added of excitement, I was being placed on their planner team.  For the next five months you will be seeing my planner pages featuring items that are from the SHE Glossy store.

Home Decor Featuring Tattered Angels - CCB

Hello and welcome to another home decor project i have created as a part of the Canvas Corp. Brands creative crew. This time I am revamping some fall color candles into a beachy theme.

Supplies from Canvas Corp. Brands:
Other:
Flameless candle
Liquid glue

Directions:
Step 1: Wrap candle with the paper tape.
Step 2: Paint the paper tape with stain glass. I did two coats. This gave it a nice ocean blue color.
Step 3: Mist the rope with the brown mist.
Step 4: Using your favorite liquid glue attach the rope to the paper tape.
Tip: Using the paper tape and adding any alterations on top of it allows you to remove the wrap without any damage to the candle. This is a cheap and simple way to dress up a out of season candle and  make use of it at any given time.
Be sure to stop by the Canvas Corp Brands blog to see what the other members of the creative crew has made.

Sassy Pants - SBC Trend

This month's trend challenge revolves around watercolor. I use to say I was never one to be fond of those softer colors but I have changed when I saw all the pretty scrapbooking items.
Here is my take on this popular trend.
Supplies: cardstock (The Paper Studio), pattern paper (Crate Paper) chipboard (Crate Paper), stickers (Simple Stories and American Crafts) doily (Doodlebug Design), twine (Timeless Twine), masks (Hazel & Ruby), gelatos (Faber-Castell) and sequins (Tree House Studio)

I used Hazel & Ruby masks and gelatos to create my watercolor element for my page. I just freehand stitch the butterfly trails.

I have heard so many stories of my cousin when she was growing up and the only thing that could best describe here was Sassy Pants.

Poppies Blooming Card

For my birthday, I go a set of Spectrum Noir markers.  I may or may not have been drooling over for the last two years. I soon went out on a search to find the perfect coloring stamps. In this upcoming card I used one super pretty stamp and a CAS(E) sketch #119.

Once I started coloring this stamp image the design of this card went a little off the sketch. Instead,  of just the cute little icon on the side mine went across.
Supplies: cardstock (The Paper Studio and American Crafts), markers (Spectrum Noir and Faber-Castell), stain (Ranger), stamps (Studio Calico kit and Stampin' Up!), ink (Memento), pen (Project Life) and punches (EK Success)

Even with just a monochromatic card like this I was still able to make an envelope seal to match. To make the punch flower pop on it I just outlined it with a pen. Don't look to close at my pen stitching, I wasn;t wearing my contacts so I was only doing it with one eye.

Love & Joy This Holiday Season - SBC 346

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I spent it running to hardware stores to get stuff for my dad while he worked on our kitchen remodel. It will be interesting on how I will make dinners in there once he starts removing the floor and the rest of the cupboards. I will post pics soon. and expect little updates throughout the whole process.

Now, on to this week's sketch #436 reveal for Scrapbook Challenges.
For this page. I switched the number of photos I used. Instead of using the large 8x10 photos I ended up using four 4x4 photos. This allowed me to get more photos on this page. In other words, I didn't want to go to the store and pick up photo paper to print a photo that big.
Supplies: cardstock (The Paper Studio), pattern paper (Carta Bella), stickers (My Mind's Eye and American Crafts), die cuts (Fancy Pants), doily (SRM Stickers), sequins (Hazel & Ruby). chipboard (October Afternoon) and electronic die cutter, cartridge and software (Provo Craft)

I Stand Corrected

Last week, I said I had was getting close to the end of my long journey of finding the right rigid gas permeable contact lens for my KC eye. I thought I had the perfect lens but  a few days after I posted that it started to give me some problems, rubbing on the eye, glaring really bad and digging into my lower eyelid.

Well, yesterday's appointment revealed a new lens had to be ordered. This time the doctor is doing a new design. He is making it thinner on the edges so it don't dig into the lids. It is also going to be bigger, which I am not happy with because I am already having a hard time putting this one in. However, if it means a better comfort and vision I will be happy to stand on my head to pop a piece of plastic in my eye.

During, all these appointments my parents and I have did a lot of studying on KC. It is amazing how many people are affected by this the odds are like 1 in 2000. We have seen numerous studies on vitamin deficiencies with keratoconus patients, the main one is vitamin D. I am now taking 5000 IU of vitamin D. In these studies patients had seen amazing results in their shape of the coned corneas. The ended up flattening out and were stronger. Time will tell and I am all for trying anything so I don't have to wear those hard plastic contact lenses for the rest of my life.

I will have my new lens (if you lost count this is my 8th lens) on Tuesday. So expect an update on the current lens late next week.

Building My Card Stash

Like, I really need to build my card stash. I have boxes full of them.

Supplies: cardstock (The Paper Studio), pattern paper (My Mind's Eye), journaling card (Project Life), twine (Timeless Twine), stickers (Elle's Studio), stamps (EK Success), wood veneers (Studio Calico), gelato (Faber-Castell), punches (EK Success), ink (Memento), and diy enamel dots

The next two cards our ones that will go in my stash.
Supplies: cardstock (The Paper Studio), journaling cards (Project Life), washi tape (Studio Calico), die cuts (My Mind's Eye), sequins (Studio Calico), stamps (Studio Calico), ink (Memento and Close to My Heart) mist (Studio Calico), punches (EK Success) sewing machine, thread and ric-rac.

On this card I did something a little different I even decorated the inside. The reason was I used a double-sided pattern paper to make the card base. To make the spot for writing a message I just added a journaling card.

A Relaxing Lake Floater - SBC #435

It is Monday morning and that means it is time for a Scrapbook Challenges latest sketch reveal #435

For this page I changed the number of photos that were used in the sketch. Since my photos were bigger than 3" I just removed one of them.
Supplies: cardstock (The Paper Studio), pattern paper (Crate Paper and American Crafts), washi tape (My Mind's Eye and Scotch Brand), chipboard (Bo Bunny), stickers (American Crafts, My Mind;s Eye and Simple Stories), twine (Timeless Twine), stitching templates (American Crafts). sequins (Hazel & Ruby), stamp (Deep Red Stamps), ink (Close to My Heart) and electronic die cutter, cartridge and software (Provo Craft)

Here is my favorite title technique. I love mixing fonts and textures in my titles. Here I have twine, foam and paper.
I added sequins to the front if each  journaling strip to create a bullet point. Plus, it adds a nice sparkle. I also added more of the twine stitching.

A Project for the Kiddies - CCB

This project I am about to share with you today is kid friendly. The challenge for the Canvas Corp Brands creative crew was to create a kid project that they would want to make and we would want to display it.  I thought about this long and decided a cute embroidery hoop wood be a great thing for a kid to work with.
I am going to share everything you will need and the steps on how your little ones can create this.

Supplies from Canvas corp Brands:
Other items you will need:
embroidery hoop
adhesive cork (Contact)
felt
stencil (The Crafter's Workshop)
Click on the image below to view images bigger.

Step 1: Mist gravel mist onto a cotton ball and rub it on top outer hoop.
Step 2: Using the inner hoop trace the outer edge onto the cork. Cut out with scissors.
Step 3:  Put the felt in hoop and tighten.
Step 4: Adhere the cork circle.
Step 5: Lay mask on top of hoop and mist with three remaining colors. I  started with the lighter shade in the center and work my way out using the darker tones. Remove mask. I picked these colors to use because I thought it blended in with the cork so it kind of give an optical illusion that the design isn't there unless you look at it a certain angle. I thought a kid would love that magical feature.  Step 6: Gather the fabric in the center.
Step 7: Wrap the center with just about four times tie a knot and leave the tails long.
Step 8: Attach bow and tag to hoop.
I am sure any kid would love to make this because it allows them to get messy.

Seeing the Light At the End

My eyesight journey is continues.Previous posts are here and here.  It has been three plus months since I have been dealing with finding the right contact lens fit for my kc eye. I have had seven fittings and I think right now I might have the perfect one. The magic one is more curved, bigger and stronger prescription. I just got it yesterday so I am still getting use to the feel but I am thinking this is the one but will find out for sure at next week's exam.

The prescription is super strong in my kc eye compared to non affected eye. There is a 3.5 difference in the lens strength. I was surprised the the lens strength was changed since at my last appointment I never looked at an eye chart with that prescription. I am happy to say the change was so small that it didn't affect my balance.

When I pick up a new lens I wear my glasses there because I swap the lens for a new one and I don't want to pop out my old lens and pop the new one back (it takes me a long time getting the lens in). Anyways, I wore my sunglasses in to the eye doctor but it was too dark so I was switched to my regular glasses but in between this was happening a person said hello to me. I couldn't see who it was until he was about 2 feet from me, I might have gave him the look of "do I know you". After I got my glasses back on I said hello back to whom it was and it was no other than  my optometrist, who I have seem almost every week since the start of the year. I am pretty sure I know him. LOL. I am perfect example of the the term that implies "Blind as a bat".
Even with the new lens my vision isn't 20/20 but I am alright with this since I have perfect vision in my other eye. I will be able to see if the new prescription has improved my distance next week. Last lenses my vision was 20/70 which is two away to be considered legally blind.

On The Run - SBC #434

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. I sure did. Spent it cooking up some yummy foods, watching the Love Come Softly movies on Hallmark, hanging out with my family and of course crafting. Also, I went contact lenses free.

Now, onto this month's kickoff for April sketches over at Scrapbook Challenges.  Sketch reveal #434

Supplies: pattern paper (Crate Paper), stickers (American Crafts, My Mind's Eye and October Afternoon), washi tape (Scotch Brand), die cuts (Scenic Route), mist (Tattered Angels), doily (The Paper Studio), border punch (EK Success), and diy enameled dots.

One thing I wanted to point out about a product I used on this page were the "XO" die cuts. Those are from Scenic Route that I got from the years ago before they closed. They came in a grab bag. I am embarrassed to say keep forgetting about them. I think I have only used them on one other project in all that time they have been in my stash. I am trying to bust my stash this year so I don't feel guilty when I do get something new.  I shouldn't have that feeling since I only buy things every once in a while.

Thanks for popping by and be sure to head over to Scrapbook Challenges to see what the rest of the design team made for this great sketch.

I'm Back

I took a little few days off from blogging. It seemed like forever since my post I wrote was a couple of weeks ago when I spent a day typing up 10+ blog posts and scheduled them for the rest of the month. I love this feature.
I have been keeping myself busy. I played along with the Paper Issues online crop they had two weeks ago. I spent the whole week working on their challenges. I was able to complete 23 out of the 24 challenges, 10 layouts, 12 cards and don't faint I also did a project life spread. I will share the projects here in the coming weeks.

This week was filled with different events.
  1. Monday, we got kitchen cabinets delivered and all of them came in good shape. Shocking for us. LOL
  2. Tuesday, I celebrated my 26th birthday. The most surprising gift were a set of spectrum noir markers. I am sure there will be tons of stamped projects will be shared here soon.
  3. Wednesday, I had an contact lens exam. I was going to make the appointment for the week after but the optometrist wanted me in this week so I picked the soonest day I could. the reason behind it the sooner I am in the sooner I get a new contact lens.
  4. Today, Friday, We are celebrating that 14 years ago we picked up a cute little fur ball name, Buster. Plus, today it is good friday.
