Three Cards to Share

Hello everyone, as you can see I basically took the summer off from the blog since life had been crazy here between the shop and eye doctor appointments. I keep my IG account more up to date if you want to see what I have been up to.

In August you might have realized Stick It Down had changed to an FB group and if you are not part of this group please join.

Here is the sketch for August.
Here is my take.

My take.

Here is October's card sketch.

This month's sketch.

Did you notice a theme here for this term's cards? I am going to be using the same 49 and market sketch for all 6 cards for this term. I am in love with how this is turning out. This was a fun side challenge for me so by the end of six months I will have a nice card set.

Cupcake Card

Hope everyone is feeling inspired today to create a card. This month's sketch at Stick It Down is fun that that allows a nice focal element.

I created a fun birthday card that was inspired by the watercolor dotted pattern paper.

Supplies: cardstock (Cardstock Warehouse), pattern paper (Studio Calico), washi tape (Studio G), embossing folder (?), stamp (Crafter's Companion), markers (Crafter's Companion), ink, (Altnew and Hero Arts) and tools (Misiti, Spellbinders, and Sizzix)

This stamp was another one I got for Christmas. It seemed perfect for the birthday card. I colored them with aqua makers from Crafter's Companion

Since I used the same pattern paper for all three banners I edged the two outer ones with pink ink.

Here is what you need to do if you want to play along. You have until the end of the month to play along with any - or all! - of our sketch challenges. Just post a link to your creation in the Stick It Down sidebar. If you share on social media, be sure to tag #StickItDown.

One randomly selected winner will receive a prize! We'll also choose one winner from each sketch to be a guest designer!

Jungle Elephant Card - DRU

Happy Friday everyone, with a fun jungle card that uses an elephant die and stamp set. First, create your card base, I used brown cardstock and matted it with dark green cardstock. Set aside. To create the die-cut panel first dry emboss it, I used a woodgrain folder. Offset the die on one edge and run it through your machine.

Now stamp the elephant toward one edge on cardstock and color.
Now stamp the leaves and die-cut it. I usually have to do this step twice since I always do this step backward.
Adhere the stamped cardstock, emboss/die cut panel, and add the finishing touches (sentiment, die-cut, and gems).

Don't forget to come to join in the fun at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog.  There's a new challenge theme offered on the 1st and 15th of each month and one lucky randomly drawn winner will receive a gift voucher prize to the Dies R Us Store.  For your convenience, all the important Dies R Us links are provided below.

Butterfly Birthday @ Stick It Down

Happy Monday, time to get back to the old grindstone, or if you are like me your weekend was filled with business work. Today, I will be sharing my take in this month's sketch from Stick It Down.
When I first saw this sketch I knew that I wanted to use the watercolor resist pad that I got for Christmas.
Supplies: cardstock (Cardstock Warehouse), pattern paper (Target), die cuts (Target), ink (Altenew), manual die (Spellbinders), sticker (Pebbles Inc.), blending brushes (Picket Fence)

Here is a closer look. I love using the blending brushes on this card it allowed me to create a nice ombre effect.

The butterfly and swirl die cuts also came from the same watercolor paper pad as the resist paper.

This month's prize for one lucky crafter in this Pinkfresh Studio stamp. To enter all you have to do is submit an entry of a card or layout using one of this month's Stick It Down sketches.

WCMD Recap Post 1

Yesterday was World Card Making Day and by chance, I was able to participate. Instead, of being out of town like I thought my family stayed home.
I got to spend all evening in my studio creating cards. I only got a total of 8 cards done but that is good.

Here is a card that I created for the Pinkfresh WCMD Challenge #1, favorite technique. It was a little tricky to do my favorite "layers" card since my Pinkfresh stash it super small. For the floral paper, I used the packaging from one of their ephemera.

I just love the puffy stickers. They add a nice depth to an otherwise flat card.
Be sure to pop back as I will be sharing the rest of my WCMD creations.

Custom Challenge

Last week I was offered a custom order for pop-up cards for orchestra leaders. I can say I was super happy with how they came out and I have only ever created one pop-up card before.  I have a short video of the card inaction on my Instagram page.

I created some of the cards with a lady pop-up and some with a gentleman pop-up.
I love when I can create something to help someone else's vision comes to life. If you want to check out my Etsy shop check MJ's Kraze. I am always open to custom orders.

Make a Wish Shaker Style

Last month I made a card that I loved and didn't know if I should sell it but I decided to list it on my shop anyway. I figure if I like it so much I could always make another one even though it would be made from different items since most of my cards are one of a kind. Fast forward to the current challenge over at Cas-UAL Fridays challenge, shaker cards. I knew he was my chance to try to recreate that first card I was in love with.

   Here is my shaker card.
Supplies: cardstock (Canvas Home Basics and The Paper Studio), pattern paper (PhotoPlay, Simple Stories and Fancy Pants Designs), enamel dots (My Mind's Eye), chipboard (Crate Paper and Simple Stories), sequins (SpiegleMom Scraps), stamps (Stampabilities, Studio Calico, and Peachy Keen Stamps), mist (Heidi Swapp) ink (Tsukineko) and stamping tool (MISTI)

I ended up using a plastic sheet that came from a pack of cork stickers for the "glass" window.

Now, this card is one I love as much as that first one.

Black, White & Gold Christmas Card Set

Can you believe this is my second post for today and expect one more later on. This post is for a card set that I created with this week's CAS-Ual Fridays challenge. I have been a long follower of their blog but never got to play along, that is until now. This week's challenge was black, white with a pop of color.

Here is my take on it. I opted for gold as the pop of color. This color combo looks so elegant for Christmas cards.
Supplies: cardstock (Canvas Home Basics and American Crafts), pattern paper (Scrap Works), stamps (Studio Calico and Close to My Heart), inks (Tsukineko and Versamark), manual dies (Spellbinders), die cut machines (Spellbinders), embossing powder (Stampabilities) and brad (Quick Quotes).

Here is a group shot of just the cards.

I used pop dots under the sentiment frame to give it more interest since I layered it on top of the same color cardstock.
