Time to Celebrate Party Hat

Last month, I recieved a email from Susan Brown, the lady in charge of the Anything But A Card challenge site. She contacted all the previous remembers in order to celebrate the Anything But A Card challenge blog's last challenge before closing. This challenge is marking the 50th challenge they have hosted since it started back in September of 2012. The site was founded by Carla Heibert, she gave my first taste of being part of a design team.

For such a milestone and the sad ending of a great site that stretched your creative muscles, I decided to create a party hat for the "Celebration". 

Supplies: cardstock (The Paper Studio),chipboard (Paper pad back), tissue paper (Hazel & Ruby), paint (Tattered Angels), ink (Tim Holtz), marker (Bic), masks (Hazel & Ruby), gelatos (Faber-Castell), sequins (Hazel & Ruby), glitter glue (Stickles), twine (The Robin's Nest), trim (American Crafts), and electronic die cutter, software and cartridge (Provo Craft). 

   I first created the hat shape with the chipboard backing from a paper pad that I used up. Then I started having fun with tissue and the color mediums. Surprisingly, I didn't get my hands too messy.  For the glitter touches I saved myself a bei headache by opting for the Stickles instead of the loose glitter. 

   The little pom-pom was created with jute twine. I am still in love with pom-poms after 3 years so I added a nice amount to this little hat by trimming it out with pompom trim.

Time Flies

   I can't believe I have neglected my little blog this month. I have been super busy making layouts for the Sizzling Summer Sketches for Scrapbook Challenges. Along with our usual Monday sketch reveal there has been a new sketch reveal every weekday this month.
   I also had to make a hard decision too. I decided to step down from the ABAC team. I am grateful to Clara for allowing me to join the team since I had no design team experience. I am also thankful for Susan to taking over as the head of the whole thing and to all my fellow team members.
   Now, onto some other news that is good. I am going to be on two new design teams, Simple Sketches and Zappy Dots. Simples Sketches is a sketch blog that offers great sketches that can work with all scrapbooker styles. Zappy Dots offer Flair badges that can be changed into magnetic jewelry or magnets.
Since, I can't close a post without posting photo I want to show you what was I saw at a bank's parking lot a couple of days ago. I counted a eleven wild turkeys.

The photo was taken at 7:45 in the morning.

Dec Daily Album

Week 2 of the Christmas in July challenge over at ABAC is full of inspiration so you can get a head start on your Christmas to-do list. 

I ended up making my Dec. Daily album. I took an old photo album and recovered it with papers. 

Supplies: cardstock and pattern papers (The Paper Studio), stickers (Simple Stories, Jenni Bowlin Studios, and Glitz Designs), pearls (Eyelet Outlet), twine (Timeless Twine) label plate (Making Memories), 

To make it more durable I added a layer of glossy accents to the front.

Here is what the inside looks like. It is bare since I still need to find a Christmas collection I like. I am hoping to get one of the new ones that will be hitting the stores soon.

Steampunk Faux Book

YES... you read this correctly – I am doing a Steampunk project. This is week two of the steampunk challenge over at ABAC.

Thanks to my friend Adele she gave me some ideas on her favorite style.  

Supplies: gears, embossing powder, doilies, brads, clock faces, frame, modeling paste, ink,map paper, charms,wire, felt, paper machi book, paint, chain and porcelain number plate. Sorry I couldn't give you the brand since most of the items were just found items.

To change the colors of the metal charms I heated the up with my heat gun and dunk them into a jar of embossing powder. The heat set it. Here are some close-ups.

I burned the doily and papers with my heat embossing gun.

Messy Canvas

I love getting messy in my crafts. When I saw the new challenge for ABAC I knew I wanted to do a canvas. 

I did the ombre effect with watercolor pencils. 

Supplies: modelling paste, marker, watercolor pencils, silver paint canvas and Mask (The Crafter's  Workshop) 

I loved how it came out and it has such an energizing pattern and color scheme.

Father's Day Gift

The new challenge at ABAC is all about dear Dad or any male. All you have to do is create a project that is perfect for a guy.
I created a notebook for my dad. He said he like the one I my for his dad at Christmas so I thought he would love this.

Supplies: cardstock (The PAper Studio), pattern paper (Echo Park) washi tape (7 Gypsies),  border punch (EK Success), electronic die cutter and cartridge (Provo Craft), marker (Bic) and stickers (Basic Grey)

 I covered the back of the book to with my dad's favorite color.

Spring Cleaning

This week's challenge over at ABAC is "Spring Cleaning". We want you to use your and neglected items that you have. and create anything because this is anything that goes challenge.

This was a great challenge for me since I have a lot of old stuff that I should use more often. I created this cute gift bag with matching tag from a collection of My Mind's Eye papers I got in 2009.

Here is the bag and tag.

I love the all those papers together. I just glued these papers to a plain white gift bag.

Here is the tag. For the flower I used a punch and I fussy cut one of the flowers from one of the papers.

ATC Challenge

I love ATC's (Artist Trading Cards). They are fun to make and small pieces of art work. This week's challenge over at ABAC is all about ATC's .
For this, I made two that I am giving to my brother for his birthday. On the back of them I add sports schedule of MSU, one is for basketball and the other is football.

Today is the start of week two of the "Inspired By" challenge over at Anything But A Card.
When I say this challenge I knew who I wanted it to be on. Ashley Horton, that is who. I considered her as my friend who is on top of everything trendy in the scrappy world. She loves to use mists, washi tape,arrows and mixed fonts on her layouts. Here is an example of her work.

I ended up doing a layout for this challenge. I used three different mists, I hand stitched three little arrows in twine,wash tape and I mixed my fonts.

ABAC Challenge 15

Good morning. I hope your Sunday is going well.
Today, over at ABAC is the start of week 2 of the spring or Alice in Wonderland challenge.
I created these cute little ATC's/coupons for my family for Easter.

 Every Easter I make these for them. It something they always enjoy and I always like doing something special for them.

Lucky 13

I am here to show you my project for week 2 of ABAC's current challenge.Since it's the 13th Challenge we want you to think about superstitions, the number 13, magic, luck, bad luck, good luck etc.

Since I am not superstitious I choose to do a cute birthday tag for a girl's 13th birthday.

Sharing Love

Today is the start of week two of Share the Love challenge over at ABAC. I ended up creating these little decorative envelopes for Valentine's Cay I am going to give my family.

  Every year I give my family a coupon that they can use for a favor. It could cleaning a room (excluded bathrooms) , cooking something special, etc.

Tie It Up

Today is the second week for the current challenge over at ABAC. The continuing challenge is Tie It Up which means anything you can tie needs to be used on your project.

This notebook I did for my mom because she has been begging for one for awhile. I guess she likes all the other ones I made for myself and gave as gifts that she wanted one too. 

Things With Wings

I ended up decorating a small burlap canvas I got for Christmas.

Today I am going to show of my favorite alter projects of the year. I was the Mason jar lids that I made into ornaments/ tags for the Christmas gifts this year.

Christmas Advent (ABAC)

Today is the day I get to reveal my project for ABAC current challenge's light aspect and do something that represents light- candles, fire, sun, etc. lights, lamps, etc or do something related to a Winter Holiday- Hanukkah  Yule, Christmas, Kwanzaa.  I made a simple 12" x 12" stand up calendar. 

 As you can tell I took the photos after I stared using it. Each day there is a tag.

I used tags because I thought I would use the ad a journaling spot for each day in the December Daily album I am doing. Also, I figured this would be the only way I would complete the album before summer.

Black at ABAC- Challenge 5

    Welcome back to another fun and inspiring challenge brought to you by ABAC. This week incorporate the color black into your project, the whole thing does not have to be just black but should be the main color.
     First, I have a confession to make. When I saw this challenge it really stumped me since Halloween is over and I didn't want to share anything for a holiday that past so I came up with this stunning project at the last minute.
     This time I decorated a plain spiral notebook, that I got free at Meijer at a special event a month ago.

 I use this how-to to make these beautiful flowers. I forgot to do the center so I added a pearl bead.

I also added a ribbon bookmark t the inside so I don't lose my place.
I love how this came out and it only ended up costing about a dollar since all the stuff came out of my stash.
